Friday, March 6th

NYC Parks - Forest Restoration @ Canarsie Park: Volunteers will learn how to safely remove invasive plants to help ensure a healthier ecosystem. Timing: 10:00am-12:00pm. Meeting Location: Paerdegat Avenue North & Seaview Avenue. Activity level: Easy to Moderate. Required Gear: Volunteers should dress in clothes that can get dirty and closed toe shoes. They should also bring their own bottles. Provided gear: Gloves and work tools. RSVP here

Friday, March 6th

NYC Parks - Maintenance Hike @ Inwood Hill Park: Volunteers will help to keep these trails clean, safe, and ecologically healthy by joining the NYC Parks Stewardship Team and the Natural Areas Conservancy on a trail maintenance hike! During these 2 hour hikes, you’ll learn about the geology and ecology of NYC’s natural areas while helping to maintain the trail systems by clearing overgrown trail corridors, cutting back invasive plants, and removing obstacles and debris.  Timing: 10:00am-12:00pm. Meeting Location: Payson House (269 Dyckman St). Activity level: Easy to Moderate. Required Gear: Volunteers should dress in clothes that can get dirty and closed toe shoes. Saturday, March 7th

NYCMTB - First Saturdays @ Wolfe's Pond Park: Join NYCMTB on the First Saturday of each month to help, build, ride, and maintain the trails at Wolfe's Pond Park in Staten Island. Our work day starts with a group mountain bike ride, followed by trail work. This March we will be focusing on clearing the trail corridor on the Panda Express trail. Timing: Saturday, March 7th. Group ride 10am - 11am. Trail work 11am - 2pm+. Meeting Location: Main Parking lot, Wolfe's Pond Park Maintenance Shop, 475 Cornelia Ave Staten Island, NY 10312 (meet by the Parks Department building). Activity level: moderate to strenuous. Required gear: Comfortable clothing for hiking and biking. A mountain bike, if you are riding. Water bottle and snacks. Provided gear: Hand tools for trail work. RSVP Here.

NYC Parks - Street Tree Care @ Williamsburg: Volunteers will learn how to aerate, cultivate, mulch, and identify street trees. They will also learn about the important roles street trees play in New York City. Timing: 10:00am-12:00pm. Meeting Location: End of N 5th Street. Activity level: Easy to Moderate. Prospect Park Alliance - Winter Corps. Join us for a special winter work session at our Winter Corps. Volunteers will assist in tasks such as raking, minor shoveling, litter pick up, and other landscaping needs. Timing: 10:00am-1:00pm. The group meets at a different location every week. NYC Parks - Trail Work @ Forest Park: Volunteers will learn how to identify and safely remove invasive plants as well as clear the trail corridor in order to help restore the forest and create a healthier ecosystem. Saturday, March 14th 

NYCMTB - Second Saturdays at Highbridge Park: Join NYCMTB on the Second Saturday of each month to help, build, ride, and maintain the trails at Highbridge Park in Manhattan. Our work day starts with a trail work project, followed by a group mountain bike ride. This March we will be working on the new Fort George connector trail. Timing: Saturday, March 14th 2020. Trail work 10am - 12pm. Skills clinic and group ride 12pm - 2pm+ Meeting location: Fort George Playground, 131 Fort George Ave, New York, NY 10040 (meet by the tool shed). Activity level: Moderate to strenuous. Required gear:  Comfortable clothing for hiking and biking. Water bottle and snacks. Provided gear:  Hand tools for trail work will be provided. Mountain bikes and helmets are available to borrow for free as part of the Highbridge bike share program. NYC Parks - Beach Cleanup @ Rockaway Beach: Volunteers will be removing debris from the Rockaway Beach by removing debris from the coastline. Timing: 9:30am-12:30pm. NYC Parks - Street Tree Care Workshop @ Project Farmhouse: become a Super Steward- Care Captain, and learn how to care for street trees in your community! Street trees may be the most accessible form of nature for most New Yorkers, and research shows that stewardship significantly increases a trees likelihood to survive. As they live longer, they grow bigger, and as they grow bigger, they in turn provide us more and more of the benefits we want and need from them, but not without your help. Join the NYC Parks Stewardship team and learn how to help care for NYC' s urban forest, and receive training to become part of the Super Stewards network of advanced, independent volunteers. This workshop will be both indoors and outdoors and will cover an overview of the Super Stewards program, intro to citizen-led arboriculture and hands-on training in how you can care for trees in your neighborhood. Please join us and help make a lasting difference in the health of our urban forest! Timing: 10:00am-3:00pm. NYC Parks - Bird Walk and Wetland Clean up @ Kasier Park: Volunteers will have an hour long spring bird walk led by the Audubon NY staff. Following will be wetland clean up where volunteers will learn how to clean up the areas around wetlands and learn how to take care of them. Timing: 9:00am-12:00pm. Prospect Park Alliance - Eastside Revival. Join Prospect Park Alliance to help beautify two of the Park’s most elegant locations: the Vale of Cashmere and the Rose Garden. Tasks may include raking, sweeping, path edging, and litter removal. Timing: 9:30-1:30pm. Meeting locationEnter park at Grand Army Plaza. Walk down East Drive against bike traffic to first stoplight. Turn left into woods and take immediate right. Walk 20 paces and take stairs on left down to lower pool. RSVP here
