Appalachian Trail Maintenance on Davenport Gap

Painting a Blaze.jpgOn this weekly Friday work-crew volunteers will #optoutside to work on the Appalachian Trail, rather than shopping for holiday deals the day after Thanksgiving.

Maintaining the Appalachian Trail by clearing fallen trees, cutting back overgrown vegetation from the sides of the Trail, and repainting trail markers, also known as blazes, keeps the Appalachian Trail alive. This is all done by volunteers!

Join the Carolina Mountain Club on Friday, November 29 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a day of essential trail maintenance.

Please be sure to wear long pants and sturdy boots. Bring plenty of water and snacks for the day, lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, as well as a rain jacket and work gloves if you have them.
