I have been an REI member for a few years, and most of my outdoor activity is around birding. Also trying to learn all about butterflies, dragonflies and native bees. Favorite local birding spots are Mason Farm near the UNC Chapel Hill Botanical Gardens. ( https://ncbg.unc.edu/venue/mason-farm-biological-reserve/ ) and Umstead State Park ( https://www.ncparks.gov/william-b-umstead-state-park/home ).
Favorite place on the planet is Glacier National Park ( https://www.nps.gov/glac/index.htm ).
I also volunteer as a Climate & Energy Justice Advocate, when not birding.
@Joe thanks for the intro! Don't be surprised if we tap you for help with birding and NC questions that come up in the community! On a side note, I am currently scheduled to travel to Rwanda in a few weeks for a trip that will include lots of birding, although it's now looking like the trip may need to be postponed. In either case, I'll be sure to upload a few pics when we return!
@Joe just yesterday, we launched a new All Locations landing page and a bunch of new location boards, including several in North Carolina! We'd love if you had any pictures to share or specific recommendations of places to recreate on those boards - thanks in advance!
